We’re delighted to have completed the installation of vital voltage-optimisation equipment at two sites for Nippon Gases, the fourth largest industrial gas company in Europe. Nippon’s Immingham plant in North Lincolnshire and Hounslow site in West London are up and running and already benefiting from renewed energy efficiency and cost reduction.
It’s been incredibly rewarding to have helped Nippon Gases save money and also to be part of their sustainability journey towards reducing their carbon footprint, with green initiatives now forming an integral part of their strategic business plan.
We were tasked with creating a capital-expenditure solution and, after taking voltage readings at both sites, we could see that voltage optimisation was the best solution for reducing CO₂ emissions and generating financial savings.
To ensure our data was as accurate as possible, we installed voltage data-logging equipment over a four-week trial period, first at Immingham and then at Hounslow. This enabled us to choose the optimal voltage-optimisation equipment for both sites to ensure the best performance.
This highly successful project has more than exceeded expectations, with emissions reduced by over 130,638kg per annum and a reduction in capex in the order of six figures greater than our initial estimates.
Stephen Reed, Nippon Gases’ head of operations and technical UK&I, said, “We were impressed with the professionalism of the installation, the quality of service provided and the excellent advice and guidance to support our green initiatives. We look forward to seeing the ongoing CO₂ reductions at both our UK sites for many years ahead.”
